Hunter's Cauldron 2026

On Saturday, 3 October, as part of the 29th edition of the Fair, the Hunter's Cauldron competition for hunting associations will take place, featuring valuable prizes for the best teams.

Gather a team of at least 3 and up to 5 members and show us your culinary skills!

HUNTER'S CAULDRON 2026
COMPETITION RULES - 3 OCTOBER 2026

1.

The Hunter's Cauldron competition is organised as part of the 29th International Fair "Nature, Hunting, Fishing & Tourism".

2.

The competition is a team event and is open to members of hunting associations. Each association may register only one team. A team must consist of a minimum of three and a maximum of five members.
The full name and contact details of the team captain must be provided in the application form.
The number of participants is limited to 20 teams. Applications will be accepted until all available places are filled.

The entry fee is €30.00 per team and must be paid to the organiser's bank account:

Please include the name of your hunting association in the payment reference.
Once payment has been received, the organiser will confirm the team's participation.

4.

The competition will take place at the Fairgrounds in Varaždin on Saturday, 3 October 2026.
Competitors must check in at the competition information point (outdoor area) no later than 09:30.

5.

Teams will prepare a wild game goulash using game meat of their own choice. All ingredients, utensils and equipment (including the cooking pot, burner and gas cylinder)
must be provided by the competitors. The dish must be prepared in a cooking pot with a minimum capacity of 5 litres over an open flame.
Competitors may marinate the meat in advance and bring a strained stock prepared beforehand.

Competitors must be at their cooking stations by 10:00. After the judging panel has inspected the ingredients and prepared components,
teams may begin cooking. The dish must be completed by 14:00.
From 14:00 to 15:45, the judging process will take place. Approximately 1 litre of each dish will be collected at random every 5–10 minutes for blind tasting.

7.

The judging panel will be appointed by the organiser. Each judge will score every dish on a scale of 1–5 for the following criteria:
Appearance, Thickness/Consistency, and on a scale of 1–10 for Taste.
The maximum score a team can receive is 20 points.

8.

Prizes will be awarded based on the total number of points earned by each team.
If two or more teams tied for one of the top three places receive the same number of points, the judging panel will conduct an additional evaluation to determine the final ranking. The decision of the judging panel is final.

9.

A special award, "Best Overall Team Impression", will be presented for the overall appearance of the cooking area, team spirit, support from fans and the overall atmosphere.

10.

The competition results will be announced at 16:00.
